In July 1999, VA Central Office determined that the Central Dental Laboratories should revert back to their original mission of providing crown and bridge prostheses and partial denture frameworks.
As a result, VA Dental Services were required to explore other options to meet their demands for acrylic dental laboratory services, such as complete dentures and sleep apnea appliances.
The VA North Texas Health Care System recognized this need and in January 2000 established the North Texas Dental Laboratory (NTDL), a contract dental lab specializing in acrylic services.
