Fellows of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons are individuals certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with full diplomate status.
Goals
The diplomates have joined together in the College for the purpose of enhancing the level of patient care. This enhancement of surgical care through the furthering of research and education in OMS surgery is achieved by the College’s sponsoring of educational programs, research activities, and fellowships as a service to not only the members of the College, but to the profession at large.
1. Responsibility to the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon Regarding Continuing Education
At the annual meeting of the College an effort is made to obtain speakers who are worldwide experts in various areas in addition to the discipline of oral and maxillofacial surgery itself. It is recognized by the College that we are a multi-disciplinary group and that input from other disciplines should not only by supported, but be regarded as essential to the full development of the health care we deliver. International networking of information and the support of international fellowships and seminars are part of this College activity.
Dissemination of information also will take the form of the sponsorship by the College of multiple types of media informational efforts accessible to the profession on a timely basis.
