The Christian Dental Society, is a 501-C-3 domestic and international non-profit organization, that functions to provide oral health care to those in need.
For over a quarter of a century, CDS has been a leader in dental missions worldwide. Traditionally, there have been far fewer dental mission volunteers compared to those involved in medical outreach programs. The need for short and long term dental outreach efforts continues into the new millenium. The advances in portable equipment and increase in dental volunteers, opportunities to relieve pain and suffering, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, have rapidly expanded.
God's church has long recognized that meeting a person's physical needs is one of the greatest tools in evangelism. The dental profession is gifted with unique avenues to combine both service and evangelism for the glorification of God.
An underlying need for Christian fellowship within the dental community has been accentuated by contemporary social issues and economic concerns. Dental health care providers face specific challenges often familiar to dentists alone. In response to the needs of the membership, CDS is working to form regional and local chapters to produce a network of fellowship. An important goal is to provide an avenue for, and assist dental mission volunteers to express their love in service to the Lord.
