The company established this affinity group medical management structure to provide employed dentists the structure to participate in a bolstered official professional oversight process. The motive for the creation of the group was to improve the delivery of dental care and increase patient satisfaction. The new structure establishes accountability at all levels within the organization and ensures appropriate oversight and support for the Associate Dentists that provide care in the company-owned dental offices.
The key structure of the SmileCare Dental Group is built on a management structure that puts dentists in charge of clinical matters and provides advancement opportunities to dentists who achieve objectives in connection with the quality of care provided to his or her patients. In summary, the structure is as follows:
- The Chief Dental Director is responsible for all official dental activities within the company. The Chief Dental Director has global oversight of official quality of care standards, and policies and procedures. The Chief Dental Director has responsibility for initiating improvements and ensuring compliance with the Quality Assurance Program. The Chief Dental Director addresses concerns relative to the delivery of dental care in the company-owned dental practices and contracted dental providers.
- Each geographic region has a District Dental Director that oversees the Associate Dentists within that district, and the dental and service delivery of a group of offices. The District Dental Director assists in establishing and/or enforcing professional standards of care. The District Dental Director monitors the quality of dental care provided by an Associate Dentist and the comprehensive patient care and satisfaction. The District Dental Director provides mentoring and acts as a resource to Associate Dentists to ensure the establishment and maintenance of a highly qualified dental group. The District Dental Director is responsible for continuous improvement of dental care provided by him or her and the Associate Dentists he or she supervises.
This professional dental structure establishes accountability at all levels of the organization. The primary oversight and support of dentists is provided by the Chief Dental Director and the other administrative professionals. The SmileCare Dental Group ensures that our professionals have a forum in which Dentists are more actively involved in providing recommendations, reviewing and establishing official standards, and partnering with business associates to enhance the operation of our facilities.
